to carry out some type of restoration or renovation.

In the case of listed buildings, you have a legal obligation to maintain and / or repair your property
on a "like for like" basis using traditional methods and materials.

If you have lime plaster walls you are expected to repair them using lime plaster, if you have reed or lathe ceilings then these too need to be replaced using reed or lathes.

You'll need to know whether you have chalk lime putty or horsehair and lime, whether to use plastering sand or fine washed pit sand, what particular type of limewash to use, etc.

Your local listings officer should be consulted prior to the commencement of any building work
